Aspen Advisors Principal Guy Scalzi Inducted as a Fellow into the New York Academy of Medicine
Aspen Leader Recognized for his contributions to the field of medicine.
Denver, CO, November 17, 2009 – Aspen Advisors, a U.S.-based global healthcare consulting firm, announced today that Guy Scalzi, one of the firm’s principals, was inducted as a Fellow into the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM), one of the nation’s oldest medical academies. An independent organization since 1847, the New York Academy of Medicine addresses the health challenges facing the world’s urban populations through interdisciplinary approaches to policy leadership, education, community engagement, and innovative research. Scalzi is one of approximately 2,000 fellows.
“It is an honor for Guy to be recognized by one of the nation’s oldest medical academies for his contributions to the field of medicine,” said Daniel Herman, Managing Principal at Aspen Advisors. “Guy has been on the forefront of the industry since he was a hospital administrator. He’s always had foresight into today’s and tomorrow’s industry challenges and has found creative ways to apply technology to address those challenges.”
Scalzi explained, “I wanted to join the NYAM because they have a strong contingent of members who work in medical informatics. I attended some of their panels and discussions and found them to be very informative. I look forward to sharing my expertise as NYAM moves deeper into areas such as Meaningful Use and Patient Centered Medical Home, where informatics plays a key role.”
Both physicians and non-physicians are considered as candidates for Fellowship for the New York Academy of Medicine. Criteria considered for Fellowship includes certification by one or another of the appropriate Specialty Boards or equivalent entity; active involvement in the affairs of medical or professional organizations; active participation in the health-related affairs of the community unrelated to income-producing professional activities; outstanding clinical contributions to medical services (including exemplary practice); outstanding administrative contributions to medical services; outstanding contributions in health or science policy; outstanding contributions to the teaching programs in a hospital, medical school, or other academic institution; outstanding contributions to research and/or publication of scholarly articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals; and other special awards, honors, and additional activities.
